Readers Say The Steaming Cup is Best Place to be on St. Patty's Day

Popular coffee shop gets kudos for serving up an authentic Irish dinner for its customers.

You won't be able to get a shot of Irish whiskey and there is no Guinness beer on top, but that didn't stop Patch readers for selecting as the best place in Waukesha to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

More than 500 people cast votes on our , and the coffee shop at 340 W. Main St. came out on top.

"I'm very surprised and really pleased," said Kerry Mackay, who has co-owned the business with his wife, Terry, since 2004. "It's a credit to our customers. They're taking care of us."

Kerry said The Steaming Cup is well known for its traditional Irish dinner, which features a special corned beef sandwich, colcannon (a dish of Irish mashed potatoes, kale and onions), and Irish country soup.

And this year, Kerry is whipping up a new Irish brownie for his St. Patty's Day customers.
