Public Meeting on Highway 18 Resurfacing Project To Be Held Tuesday

Waukesha included in stretch of road up for improvement in 2013/2014,

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is holding a public meeting to discuss the Highway 18 resurfacing project from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Β Swanson Elementary School, 305 N. Calhoun Road, Brookfield. A formal presentation will begin at 6 p.m.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation plans to resurface Highway 18 from Manhattan Drive in Waukesha to 124th Street in Elm Grove.

The project includes closing of several driveways, adjusting local street connections, improving intersections, modifying medians and reconfiguring turn lanes, according to a news release from the DOT. The plans also include a continuous bikeway and sidewalk.

The project is expected to last several years, starting with construction on the eastern segment in 2011, the middle segment in 2012 and the western segment, which includes Waukesha, would be repaved in 2013/2014. Plans are available online and at the Waukesha City Hall.
