Update: Some Power Restored in Waukesha

UW-Waukesha classes back in session.

Update, 4:39 p.m. The 1,587 WE Energies customers who lost their power early this afternoon now have electricity. About 200 customers in Waukesha remain without power.

Update, 4:02 p.m.: Power in some areas of western Waukesha have been restored, including at UW-Waukesha where classes are now back in session, according to its Twitter account.

While nearly half the customers have been restored their power in the area, 653 customers in the west side of Waukesha are waiting to have electricity back.

Earlier: More than 1,580 customers living in areas on the west side of Waukesha are without power, according to WE Energies. The outage is under investigation sicne the power went out at 1:36 p.m.

Some neighborhoods on North University Drive and South Prairie Avenue are also without electricity.

An additional 136 customers lost power near Sunset Drive between Highway X and Merrill Hills Road. Those  people experienced the power outage after 3 p.m.

The University of Wisconsin-Waukesha was closed for the day because of the power outage, according to its Twitter account. Classes are back on as regularly scheduled, though.
