GE Healthcare Donates $36K to Make-A-Wish Foundation

A Make-A-Wish kid took a tour of the GE Healthcare facilities where the company also presented the donation to the foundation.

Employees at GE Healthcare, based in Waukesha, raised $36,000 through an online auction for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin.

This is not the first time GE Healthcare has partnered with Make-A-Wish Foundation. 

Katie Ahnen's wish was granted in 2010 when she received help to pay for her college education.

Ahnen decided to go into the medical field after her childhood was impacted by a genetic disorder, reported Fox6Now. Ahnen was 4 years old when she was diagnosed with cystinosis. She underwent several treatments and even a kidney transplant.

Now a healthy college senior, Ahnen is pursing a career in phlebotomy.

Ahnen took a tour of the GE Healthcare’s factory on Friday where the company also presented the $36,000 donation to Make-A-Wish.

Over the past two weeks, employees of GE Healthcare's MICT & AW business raised funds for Make-A-Wish by holding an online auction in addition to donating money directly to the organization.

The money raised was presented to Patti Gorsky, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin by MICT & AW president and CEO, Steve Gray.
