Downtown Waukesha Under Flood Advisory

Heavy rains could cause areas in community to flood.

Northeastern Waukesha County is under a flood advisory until 6:30 p.m. Tuesday because the thunderstorm at 3:34 p.m. Tuesday brought heavy rainfall, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service is estimating that the heavy rainfall brought up to 1 inch of rain in an hour. More rain is expected and run off from the rainfall could cause minor flood in areas including downtown Waukesha. The NWS is warning that some highways, streets, underpasses, drainage areas and low-lying spots could be have minor flooding.

The National Weather Service is reporting that gusts reaching about 59 miles per hour ripped through Waukesha during the short thunderstorm Tuesday afternoon.
