Massage comes in all shapes and sizes, with popular methods such as deep tissue and Swedish massage often conjuring up visions of a linen-covered bed table, massage oils and a candle-lit room.

Oriental Wellness Center will offer Thai Massage demonstrations during its open house from 1 to 5 p.m. on Nov. 16. RSVP on our Facebook page!

Thai Massage uses no oils or lotions, and the recipient remains clothed during a treatment wearing lose fitted clothes. Instead of rubbing the muscles, the body is pulled, rocked, compressed and stressed in an effort to clear energy blockages and relieve tension.

Thai Massage isn’t the only experience awaiting at the open house, Qi Gong demonstrations will also be part of the event. Qi Gong exercises are one of the more commonly practiced ancient Chinese methods, and are used to improve blood circulation and promote healthier organs, according to OWC owner Phebe Purnell. OWC holds Qi Gong classes on select Saturdays.
