Nonprofit organization Good Friend, Inc., had 19 members in its last film's cast, and that felt big -- especially when Denise Schamens and I were on a stage in Florida accepting our first national award, sharing the names of all of our "actors". Our newest film, "We ALL Fit", calls for a larger cast. We're looking for nearly 30 people in all! And we'll be hosting open auditions on Monday, Aug. 5, from 4 to 7 p.m., and Tuesday, Aug. 6, from noon until 3 p.m., at the Training Center in the Waukesha office of Citizens Bank of Mukwonago (2109 Corporate Dr.).
Specifically, we need a narrator, age 10-11, for voice work and acting; a Young Narrator, age 2-4; four boys with autism, ages 2-11, one who uses AAC; one girl with autism, age 7-10, who has some reliable communication skills; one typically-developing boy, age 9-11, the older sibling of someone with autism; fifteen “extras”, mix of boys and girls age 10-11; and six adults, age 25-60. Adult roles include a classroom teacher, an educational assistant, a principal, a speech therapist, a parent, and a doctor. Adults with specific real-life experience in the described roles are preferred.

All actors will have their photo taken and screen tests done. Only those pursuing the narrator role will be asked to read from the film script. Others may be asked to answer basic questions on camera. Actors are welcome to share prepared monologues, but it will not be required. Callbacks will be Wednesday, Aug. 7, if needed.
We anticipate the cast to be set by mid-August, with filming to begin in late-August and continue into early September.
The film's Kickstarter campaign runs until Wednesday morning, July 17. If the project doesn’t attract $10,000 in pledges by the deadline, Good Friend receives no funds. Backers have pledged more than $2,700 to date.
