High Interest Day Features Fishing at Waukesha's Meadowbrook Elementary

Meadowbrook Elementary in Waukesha features fishing among it's activities at High Interest Day

Meadowbrook Elementary School in Waukesha, Wisconsin hosted their annual High Interest Day during the afternoon of Friday, May 3rd 2013.

I was excited to present "FISHING" alongside other creative presenters which included Golf, Lacrosse, Dance, Gymnastics, and Tae Kwon Do.

In each of the three, 35-minute sessions, we covered Careers in the Fishing Industry and we brainstormed subjects in school that can be important to each of them.  The fishing groups also discussed the proper set-up for fishing a wacky rigged worm as an easy way to target large and smallmouth bass.  Each child received a sample of Outkast Tackle's 5" Stick Worms to try on their next fishing outing.

Finally, the sections broke into smaller groups and kept score for one another during a mini casting exercise while the other students learned to tie 2 new fishing knots.

I'd like to give a special 'Thank You' to "Maddie"! for volunteering her time to help out at my station.  She is a polite, and energetic 17 yr-old Waukesha North Student who returned to her old elementary school to assist the children in having a wonderfully, enriching experience during the casting portion of each presentation!
