No Joe on the Go: Dunkin' Donuts Loses Fight for Drive-Through Window

Dunkin' Donuts wanted to build a restaurant on West Sunset Drive, but a drive-through window ban at the proposed location has been problematic.

Dunkin’ Donuts will not be allowed to have a drive-through if it builds on a property at S30-W24836 W. Sunset Drive.

The Town of Waukesha Board of Supervisors agreed Thursday night to keep the current zoning for the West Sunset Drive and Prairie Avenue property, which enforces a ban on drive-through windows for the parcel of land, according to the Town of Waukesha clerk’s office.

Neighboring coffee shop Le Caffe Bistro was turned down for a drive-through window several years ago. The coffee shop owners have fought the Dunkin’ Donuts drive-through window since the proposal first came forward in February.

The coffee shop owners and surrounding residential neighbors asked the Town Board Thursday to deny a zoning change that would allow a drive-through window, citing traffic flow and safety issues, the Waukesha Freeman reported.

Dunkin’ Donuts representatives told the newspaper in the past that the company does not intend to build a restaurant without the window, however, there are no updates available about the company’s future action, the newspaper reported.
