Since I have also been around for decades and have never heard of it, I would not call it a 'national' franchise. The web site shows it's almost entirely in the mid-west. The site mentions their inability to spell.

Well, grew up on maid-rite (Quincy,IL)... Live in the Sha now. Went, today. It was OK. Good in it's own right but just not the same. All the fancy new selections, not a fan nor are they necessary. I am use to fried cauliflower, mushrooms, crinkle fries, and enough grease on my maid-rite to clog the arteries of at least three people. So, a little dry, overpriced, and super small location for me. The ones sold at Leon's custard are closer to what Quincy's maid-rites are like. But I will probably go back.

I should clarify, I had my heart set on it being the same. I DID like it. Wish them all the best and judging from today's traffic it will be very successful!

Went to Maid-Rite last night with my wife. Not impressed and will probably never go back unless it's for a milk shake. Food was mediocre at best. Portions were small. Fries and "homemade onion rings" were coming out of a frozen food bag! Not the "Diner" I had in mind!

Love Maid-Rite! We eat there often, enjoy the friendly atmosphere and the opportunity to speak with the owners whilst waiting for our meals. If you aren't diggin' the Maid-Rite burger, try the smoked turkey wrap, or pulled pork. So good!
