Green Bay Packers Punter, Kicker Sign in Waukesha

Tim Masthay and Mason Crosby have high hopes for a Super Bowl repeat.

Green Bay Packers Kicker Mason Crosby has been near perfect all season as he has made 26 out of 28 field goals as the Packers have also been near perfect in the regular season.

But the Packers have home field advantage and Crosby is stuck with reality of Wisconsin winters – kicking in the cold makes it a little more difficult. But he’s ready.

“It is a tricky place this time of year,” Crosby said. “Every time I go out there I have to judge the wind. I am excited about the challenges and that we get to stay at home.”

While the route to the playoffs this year is much different compared to last year, Masthay said the intensity and the excitement remains the same.

“Winning the Super Bowl made me want to win another one even more,” Masthay said.

As the team has won 15 out of 16 games this season, Crosby said the expectations and pressures going into the playoffs are higher than last year but the team keeps rolling through each win.

“I think that hunger to win another Super Bowl is possibly (higher) because we now know what it is like,” Crosby said. “Last year it was ‘Let’s get there, let’s see what this thing is about.’ Now we know what it is, we know the feeling and we definitely want to get back. Now that we are finally in the playoffs it seems a little more real.”

Playoff Beard

Crosby is sporting a beard as the team enters the playoffs. But don’t expect him to not take a razor to his face – it’s not about a superstition for him.

“I might trim a little bit just to keep it maintained,” Crosby said. “It definitely helps to keep wind off and to keep the cold off a little bit. ... I always have some sort of facial hair going. I was thinking today that my New Year’s resolution will be that I shave more often and keep my face a little more groomed.”

So Which Team in the AFC in the Super Bowl?

While Crosby said there are plenty of teams that could be make it to the Super Bowl in the AFC, he picked one match-up that the Packers have seen before.

“I think it would be a fun game to have us vs. the Patriots,” Crosby said. “I think would draw a lot of media coverage.”
