Have the Cooking Bug? O' What a Day Cafe Renting Commercial Kitchen

Waukesha business owner opens her commercial kitchen as a cooking incubator to foodies throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

Ever dream of having your own commercial kitchen to bake to your heart’s content or to can your special recipe for the farmer’s market?

For many aspiring business owners, the costs to own a commercial kitchen are not economically viable. Bobbie Peters, owner of O’ What a Day Café in downtown Waukesha, understands that dilemma.

That’s why she is renting out the kitchen as a business incubator of O’ What a Day Café while she also looks for another location to house her cupcake café that opened last year in the Main Street Plaza.

“This kitchen will be rented for people to come out for people who have had a dream to do something in the food world but can’t afford to build a commercial kitchen,” Peters said. “In Wisconsin, you can’t feed the public unless it is with a commercial kitchen. A year ago when I was starting this process, I was trying to find a commercial kitchen. I was totally fine with going to a farmer’s market and starting my business. But in order to do that you have to be able to have your kitchen inspected.”

Having just launched the business incubator, Peters said she has had more than a dozen interested people looking to use the kitchen from catering to cake decorating. The pricing varies for members vs. non-members. For the foodies of Waukesha looking to get their start in the cooking world, Peters has set up a Facebook page and website for Cooking Incubator.
