Dunkin' Donuts Moves Forward With Sunset Drive Location

Town of Waukesha approves the new business with a drive-through window.

Dunkin’ Donuts will be allowed to open on Sunset Drive in the Town of Waukesha with a drive-through window, the Town Board decided Thursday night.

A condition of the approval is to ensure Waukesha County officials do not have any restrictions on the drive-through window, according to Town of Waukesha Clerk/Treasurer Jamie Salentine.

Dunkin’ Donuts will open at S30W24836 Sunset Drive. The 5,040 square foot building would house up to four retail tenants. The plans do not state what tenants would be located in the building, besides Dunkin’ Donuts.

The Sunset Drive Dunkin’ Donuts will be the second to open in Waukesha recently. Dunkin’ Donuts opened on North Grandview Boulevard in October.

Milwaukee Coffee Brewing Co. (MCB) plans to open 36 Dunkin’ Donuts locations throughout southeast Wisconsin in the next few years, according to Menomonee Falls Patch.

DD is carpet bombing this area.
I like the local coffee shops better...

So then keep visiting them, Mr. Lundt...

Wow amazing that all of the traffic concerns have been resolved in such a short time. Since DD gets a drive through does this mean the Le Cafe Bistro can have one too? They were previously denied. Stand by to watch the corporate franchise put the local bistro out of business. Sad.

Love dd coffee.

Boycot this DD and give your business to Le Cafe Bistro. So unfair that they were denied drive-thru but this big money corporation gets one. Town of Waukesha--you messed up

I love the Bistro but anyone who even drive by the locations understand why DD go the drive thru and the Bistro did not.

My guess is they didnt want traffic to be backing up on Sunset Drive, and where Cafe Bistro is, there is no side street to use for the drive thru, but where DD will be there is a side street? Who knows...all I can see is I am happy that DD is coming to town! :)

DD has a massive parking lot and is set way back from sunset or any road.
The bistro has a tiny lot and is very close to the only road it shares access with... The drive thru decision was right...

Testimony at the hearing indicated Cafe Bistro is on the wrong side of their building. If they were on the west side of their building instead of the east side, they would have a drive through. Location, location, location....

I agree with Sean. I love DD's coffee.

Since cafe bistro was denied the drive up then why did they move there. like you said LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. cant wate for DD to move in.

I live way too close to this site, so have been following for several years. Bistro applied for a drive thru prior to moving in, and were told No. If the drive thru was approved, they would have been on the other end of the building. But since it was denied, they opted to move in and change their biz plan. Their building is the same setback as DD is proposing. Interestingly enough, minutes from Wauk County Plan Commission from way back then shows the site is approved for fast food, but withOUT a drive thru. Once again, the Town is embroiled in controversy. Looks like it could be yet another black eye on the Town. Poor call Town of Waukesha, Lets see how this gets covered up. Precisely why Sonic was turned down to the West, and why this property has been vacant for so many years. There reallys seems to be no rhyme or reason to the Towns growth strategy. Good thing the County oversees as well. Lets keep supporing the locals.

Interestingly enough, the footprint plans of DD is the same as Bistro. DD will encroach on St Vinnys parking, especially IF they fill it out with other tenants. BIstro strip mall actually owns a large portion across the boulevard specifically for parking, which the drive thru will go right thru. The bistro is such a unique spot, I will contine to frequent them.

I agree that the folks at this Kwik Trip are great at assisting disabled people like myself but IRead More disagree that all Kwik Trips are helpful. There is a law that all gas stations are to assist you if you have disabled plates or a hanging placard if you press the help or disabled key on the pump. If there is no key (and I think all must have them by a certain date) then you are to honk horn twice and if there are at least 2 employees on duty, they are to assist. The K/T on St. Paul is useless. I've waited there, watching at least 3 employees mill around the counter with 1 or 2 customers and ingnore me. The Grandview station same but I haven't tried them in a few months. The worst station for that is whatever the one on St. Paul and Prarie is. I pulled in to see a female worker standing on side of building smoking. When she went in she was greeted by a male worker and I was ignored by both. I'd like to do a survey on how helpful each gas station is to the disabled. Kudos to Fleetfoot Kwik Trip! Whatever they got they should share with their brethren. I would rather give my $ to K/T because they are WI based and they donate regularly to the Salvation Army

I am fine with this service--its great. However being handicapped does not mean employees need toRead More give up their breaks or other customers need to let you cut in line in front of their service needs.
