Dirt Strippers Appears Closed, Owes Thousands in Taxes

Waukesha car wash is behind nearly $53,000 in back taxes but some customers lost money after purchasing tickets online.

It might not seem like much, but Waukesha resident Dan Weber is still out about $50.

About a year ago, Weber purchased discount coupons online for He used about half of the coupons and decided to use them again during a recent warm day to rinse the salt off his car.

“I went in there,” Weber said. “It was just empty.”

Weber pulled up to the 24-hour car wash at 1649 Arcadian Ave. and tried to use the coupons at one of the stations. The automated system said it was out-of-order. That’s when Weber realized the neon sign that would typically light up to say “Open” was turned off.

“It is not the end of the world but it is kind of a shame,” Weber said.

Weber tried to contact the car wash to no success. He’s stuck with coupons that appear to have no value.

While the Waukesha Police Department has responded to the property during the past few years for complaints varying from damage to property to loitering, they have not received any complaints about the coupons.

Waukesha Patch made attempts to contact the business but was unsuccessful. The business’ trash cans are full and garbage is spilling out in the parking lot and it appears the car wash is closed.

But it appears Weber is not the only one who is out the money. Waukesha County tax records state that Dirt Stripper owes $52,744 in property taxes dating back until 2008.

The city has not heard from the business and no plans for the property have come forward, according to Community Development Specialist Jennifer Andrews.
