Be Fabulous: Waukesha Celebrates Diva Day

It’s time for the ladies of Waukesha to be fabulous because downtown Waukesha will be celebrating their second annual Diva Day on Sunday.

“Let the men plan the Packer party that night,” said Meghan Sprager, the executive director of Waukesha Business Improvement District. “... Diva Day is a special shopping day for the women of downtown Waukesha."

Ladies don't have to worry about missing the 7:20 p.m. Packers game. Event kickoff will be at noon and shoppers are encouraged to stop by from noon to 4 p.m. There, they can register, check out the chic items on the auction block and grab the envied purple feather boa.

“We over-ordered boas this year because we ran out last year," Sprager said. "I think the boas are a fun way to add pizazz to any outfit, show support for the [Women and Girl’s] foundation and enjoy that camaraderie."

The event is sponsored by Three Sisters Uniquities on Clinton Street, on Main Street, Mia’s Italian Cuisine, , and Waukesha Now.

Shops in downtown Waukesha will be keeping longer hours that Sunday and most have special deals or free giveaways planned for the event. Three Sisters Uniquities is celebrating its re-opening; The Allmont Gallery is giving away pendants and greeting cards with each purchase; will unveil two new gelato flavors (non-alcoholic chocolate martini and raspberry champagne)will give diva pops out to the first 25 customers who spend more than $5; Envy Salon will indulge their ladies in $25 half-hour mani-pedis with complimentary wine or tea.

Most importantly, shoppers are encouraged to keep their receipts and swap them for Diva Dollars at the after party, Diva Delish, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Mia’s. Free refreshments will be offered and the ladies can use their Diva Dollars to bid on the auction items.

All items were donated by local businesses and all proceeds will go to the Waukesha County Community Foundation – The Women and Girls Fund. Last year, Diva Day raised about $1,500 for breast cancer research at  

“Diva Day is all about celebrating women and The Women and Girl’s Fund is about preserving the health and vitality of women,” Sprager said.
