Aldi, Walgreens Moving Forward in Town of Waukesha

Controversial development can run a 24-hour pharmacy with a drive-through window at West Sunset Drive and West St. Paul Avenue.

Walgreens and Aldi are moving forward in the Town of Waukesha after the Town Board approved the operating plans for the new businesses that will locate on the southwest corner of West St. Paul Avenue and West Sunset Drive.

Walgreens will be able to operate its pharmacy 24-hours through a drive-through window, according to the Town of Waukesha staff members.

The controversial four-acre development will bring 45 to 50 jobs to the property, according to Waukesha Now.

The project’s been in the works for years and the developers were blocked by the town in 2012. After the developers were turned down, they unsuccessfully attempted to annex the property into the City of Waukesha.

City staff members had concerns that the commercial development would have negative impacts on the residential properties in the town.
