Busing Company Seeks Temporary Operating Plan Days Before New School Year

The Waukesha School District changed its busing contract to First Student this school year.

Just days before the new school year is to begin, First Student Busing Company is finalizing government approvals so it can begin busing students in the Waukesha School District for the 2013-14 school year.

The company is requesting the Waukesha Plan Commission approve a temporary operating plan while its Arcadian Avenue site is under construction to meet the terms of its conditional use permit. The Plan Commission will take up the request at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. School starts Sept. 3 Β­Β­-- six days after the meeting.

The Waukesha School District switched its contract from its long-time transportation provide Dairyland Buses to First Student for the 2013-14 school year. The contract change led to 155 layoffs at Dairyland Buses.
