Busing Company Frustrates Plan Commission With Late Request

Plan Commission approves temporary operating agreement so First Student can start transporting students on the first day of school on Tuesday.

The Waukesha Plan Commission is allowing First Student to temporarily operate its buses out of the Arcadian Avenue facility as school starts on Tuesday, but the Waukesha Freeman is reporting the commissioners are unhappy with the bus company because it already has been operating out of the facility before construction was completed.

“If I were the superintendent of schools, I’d fire you,” Commissioner Rick Congdon told the company, according to the Waukesha Freeman.

The Waukesha School District switched its contract from its long-time transportation provide Dairyland Buses to First Student for the 2013-14 school year. The contract change led to 155 layoffs at Dairyland Buses.
