Waukesha BID Announces Scholarship Winners

Art Fest raises money each year to send students to college.

The Waukesha Business Improvement District Art Fest Committee recently announced the 10 recipients of the annual Art Fest scholarship awards. Two art students from each of the four high schools in Waukesha and Carroll University are chosen by their teachers to receive the Art Fest scholarships, which are awarded in spring.

The scholarship recipients are Kookjoo Kim, Madison Sternig, Elizabeth Tess, Kristine Rodefer, Dana Christopherson, Molly Vertz, Paulene Phouybanhdyt, Kati Rehbeck, Rachel ReNee Cheney and Heidi Prange.

Each September, during the Art Fest, scholarship funds are raised through a silent auction and from donations.

In 2001, Julia Nestingen-Palm was an Art Fest recipient. Sadly, Julia passed away in 2010. On the anniversary her birthday and in memory of Julia, her parents and other relatives made a special donation to the Art Fest Scholarship Fund. The committee is deeply grateful for the honor in receiving this memorial.

Art Fest is an annual event in downtown Waukesha that is held each Saturday after Labor Day.
