Get Out: Places To Go This Weekend

Waukesha Patch takes a look at area events that are happening this weekend.

Where/When: Waukesha Civic Theatre; 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday, 10 a.m. and noon Monday and Tuesday.

Why Go: Take a night out in Waukesha to experience the adaptation of William Shakspeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The play is being performed by WCT PlayMakers and the ACAP Players. The Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre will be bringing a special arrangement during the show.

Where/When: Carroll University; noon to 5 p.m. Saturday

Why Go: The Carroll Players will present an open-air event, the Festival of Dionysus.  Dionysus is the Greek god of wine and festivity.  This outdoor festival will include play performances, refreshments, games, speakers and music.

Where/When: State Fair Park Expo Center, 640 S 84th St, West Allis; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Why Go: KIDSfest & Baby Expo is a two-day event packed with fun for your entire family.  Four separate stages feature entertainment, from David Seebach's World of Magic to ComedySportz to Trinity Irish Dance.  SafetyLand will offer safety tips in a memorable way.  The SportsZone includes fun activities from the Brewers, Bucks, Packers, Wave and more.

Pricing: Adults $3; Children $2; kids 2 and under free; A portion of the proceeds goes to the Children’s Miracle Network.

Where/When: Carroll University’s Shattuck Music Center; 8 p.m. Saturday.

Why Go: The Concert Choir and Wind Symphony of Carroll University will perform Bread, a program about money and food, as part of Carroll's yearlong food theme. 

Pricing: $8 adults, $3 students and seniors age 60 and older

Live Music

Where/When: The Steaming Cup; 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday

Why Go: Get caffeinated while listening to a coffee shop concert. Mia Montenegro is performing Friday and Front Porch Boys is performing Saturday.
