Old World Wisconsin will host a a Polish Heritage Celebration from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18. The day will be filled with music, dancing, food and hands-on experiences at the historic Kruza Farmstead.
Activities include:
- Wycinanki, which is Polish paper cutting that is intricate
and colorful - Polka lessons
- Pierogis: Interpreters will welcome help as they roll out
pierogi dough made using the site's historic recipes - Herb bouquet making: Visitors are welcome to make herb
bouquets to place at the base of the crossroads cross in honor of Assumption
Day, as the Feast of the Assumption is on August 15. - Straw weaving and pysanky egg display
- Polish food: The Clausing Barn Restaurant will include a
selection of Polish favorites - Book Signing: Susan Gibson Mikos, author of "Poles in Wisconsin" will be at the museum store
from 1 to 4 p.m. for a book signing
Admission:

$16 for adults, $14 for students and seniors (65 and older) and $9 for children (5-17); children under 5 are free. Family admission (up to two adults and two or more dependent children 5-17) is $43. Admission to the Polish Heritage Celebration is included in museum admission.

Old World Wisconsin, owned and operated by the Wisconsin Historical Society, is a premier outdoor museum of late 19th- and early 20th-century Midwestern immigrant
farm and rural life. The museum offers visitors engaging points of connection, facilitated by period-clad interpreters, and by visiting 10 working farmsteads, exploring 12 heirloom gardens, interacting with historic animal breeds, and trying out historic crafts and trades. The new "Life on the Farm" experience is now open for the 2012 season. The site is open May 1 through Oct. 31 plus postseason holiday weekends.
