ANNIE, that classic family favorite about the plucky redheaded orphan and her quest to find her real parents, has finally arrived at Sunset Playhouse. The show opens Friday, Dec. 2 with a Preview Performance Thursday, Dec. 1.
Since it opened on Broadway in 1977, "Annie" has become a household name. Based on the "Little Orphan Annie" comic strips, it tells the story of a little girl living in an orphanage run by the nasty Miss Hannigan. Annie receives an opportunity to spend Christmas with the billionaire Oliver Warbucks. When she arrives at his house, he and his staff fall in love with her. Suddenly, she has the potential for a completely different life-if Miss Hannigan doesn't get in the way.
With a book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin, "Annie" is one of the classics of musical theater. It was made into a movie starring Albert Finney and Carol Burnett in 1982 and has spawned a sequel, "Annie Warbucks." Sunset Playhouse's production showcases the finest young (and seasoned) talent in the Milwaukee area, and is sure to have you humming as you leave the theater!
The director for ANNIE is Ray Jivoff, and the musical director is Donna Kummer. The adult cast includes Anatalia Aschcroft, Gela Ashcroft, Josh Borkowski, Don Devona, Marcee Doherty, Zoe Drews, Christopher Elst, Natalie Hartwig, Stuart Kendall, Liz Norton, Samantha Paige, Isaiah Reynolds, Meg Schachner, Carley Schwendel, Kali Tans and Michael Traynor.
There are two casts of children. The "Sandy" cast, led by Emma Borkowski as Annie, also includes Emma Baran, Harper Navin, Natalie Alteri, Sian Davis, Skylr Daczka and Ellie Lenkart. The "New Deal" cast, led by Ellie Taft as Annie, also includes Kendal Briscoe, Erin Fricker, Audrey O'Neill, Payton Honkamp, Madelyn Ballard and Ellen Fricker.
ANNIE will be performed in Sunset Playhouse's Furlan Auditorium from Dec. 1-31, 2011. Performance dates and times are as follows:

The opening night performance on Friday, Dec. 2 will be followed by a reception open to all patrons attending opening night generously sponsored by Silver Spur Texas Smokehouse.
The Playhouse offers $10 tickets for the Thursday preview performance (12/1/11) and Wednesday performance (12/21/11). All seats reserved. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. Tickets for ANNIE are as follows:
