An English Christmas Concert Being Held Dec. 9

Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1600 S. Genesee St., Delafield, will host the Lutheran A Capella Choir’s  “An English Christmas” concert on Friday, Dec. 9, at 7:30 p.m. The event is part of the congregation’s Festive Music Series. Refreshments will be served following the concert in the Great Hall.

Tickets are general admission at $15 for adults and $12 for seniors and students. Tickets may be purchased on the choir’s website - www.lutheranacappella.org, or at the door.

“An English Christmas” will feature carols and texts of English origin, and by English composers such as Gustav Holst, Ralph Vaughan Williams and John Rutter. Arrangements of traditional carols and hymns like “Sussex Carol,” “Coventry Carol,” “O Little Town of Bethlehem,” What Child is This?,” “The First Noel,” and others will be performed, as well as a medley of English carols, “Fantasia on Christmas Carols” by Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Celebrating its 75th season, the Lutheran A Cappella Choir specializes in performing the finest sacred a cappella works of the great choral masters as well as modern composers. The choir has performed in all of the major venues in Milwaukee, in dozens of local churches and has made several appearances on Milwaukee television and radio. Its concert tours to Chicago, St. Louis, Fort Wayne, Madison, and throughout Wisconsin, have helped build the choir's reputation as one of the foremost Christian choral groups in the nation.

An ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America) church, Christ the King has nearly 1,000 parishioners and welcomes new members. Weekly worship is held on Saturdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 8:15 and 10 a.m.
