This August, the Donna Lexa Memorial Art Fair, an annual event that brings quality fine art to the Wales area, is celebrating its 15th anniversary year.

The juried fair, held Saturday, Aug. 20, features artists from throughout Wisconsin and across the country. The selected artists will exhibit works in a variety of mediums, including watercolor, sculpture, jewelry, glass, pottery, photography and fiber arts.

“We pride ourselves on creating a juried fair that features some of the state’s and country’s best artists while still providing affordable pieces that families will treasure for years to come,” said Pam MacArthur, event organizer.

Last year’s event drew close to 3,500 attendees. The fair is easily accessible from the Milwaukee and Madison areas. In addition to great artwork, the event features food, children’s activities, a silent art auction, used book sale, and an entertainment area featuring a variety of musical performances.

The annual art fair is sponsored by Jerusalem Presbyterian Church in memory of Donna Lexa, who helped disabled and elderly people reach their full potential through her work as an art therapist. Donna Lexa was killed in a car accident in 1996 and the church began the Donna Lexa Memorial Art Fair to carry on her inspiration.

Proceeds from the art fair help support non-profit organizations in Waukesha County, and also fund the Jerusalem Presbyterian Church Donna Lexa Art Fair Fine Arts Scholarship, given to a Kettle Moraine High School senior pursuing further education in art, music or drama.

The Donna Lexa Memorial Art Fair will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. rain or shine, and admission is free. The art fair is held along the Glacial Drumlin bike trail in the quaint village of Wales, just south of Interstate-94 on Highway 83.
