Waukesha Native Stars on Controversial ABC Show
While some praise "Good Christian Bitches" for its comedy, others – including a presidential candidate – have criticized it for its attack on the Christian religion.
A Waukesha native is starring on an ABC show that’s netted strong criticism, including presidential candidate Newt Gingrich calling attention to the show GBC, which is based on a book, Good Christian Bitches.
Brad Beyer, a 38-year-old actor and graduate who has made appearances on Jerico, The Mentalist, CSI: New York, Lie to Me, Without a Trace and other shows, plays Zack Peacham on GBC. The show runs at 9 p.m. Sundays.
“It's about people trying to live within the rules of the church, how it affects them and the hypocrisy that lies within a group of people,” Beyer told GMToday.com.

But for some, the show, based in Dallas, goes too far. Gingrich questioned the show, stating that if the producers replaced “Christian” with “Muslim,” the show wouldn’t have run, according to Politico.

It hasn’t been all negative. The Sioux City Journal had praises for the show, calling it “fun” with the actresses being “four-star chefs.”
“Luckily, GCB isn't all hat and no cowboy,” states the review in the Sioux City Journal. “The second episode is just as rich and twice as juicy. While comparisons with Desperate Housewives are inevitable, this one trumps that in spades. Comedy isn't sprinkled in like a last-minute spice. It's the main ingredient.”
