(CCC) announced its plans to participate in the annual Waukesha Christmas parade activities in downtown Waukesha on Sunday. The organization will hold a major toy drive on the day of the event, which is sponsored by the Waukesha Business Improvement District. In addition, high school students from the S.A.D.D. (Students against Destructive Decisions) clubs of Waukesha North and Waukesha West High Schools will march in the parade on behalf of CCC for the third consecutive year.

Toys will be collected the day of the parade (and until December 14) at the following downtown Waukesha sites: Cuddles Hallmark & Martha Merrell’s Books & Café, 231 Main Street; Sprizzo Gallery Caffé, 363 W. Main St.; and Waukesha County Historical Museum, 101 W. Main Street. The donated toys will stock CCC’s annual Toy Shop for children in need.

This year’s parade theme is Candy Canes on Main. Students marching in the parade representing CCC will be decorating a large wagon as their entry in the float and will be handing out informational flyers about CCC and how the public can help children in need in the area this Christmas season.

CCC also reminds the public of the opportunity to sponsor a family registered with CCC. CCC is currently matching families, organizations and individuals willing to sponsor children with families in need. Sponsorship involves purchasing toys or clothing in the amount of $60 per child.  Sponsors should make arrangements to deliver their gifts of Christmas toys or clothing personally by Dec. 14.  Interested sponsors are encouraged to call (262) 549-NOEL (6635).  CCC takes calls Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.  The CCC office will also take calls Monday evenings from 6 until 8 p.m.

Families who are not matched with sponsors through the program are invited to come to the CCC Toy Shop to shop for community-donated gifts and clothing items for their children. CCC is also requesting donations from the community of cash and gift cards to help children for whom a sponsor is not found.
