Spring City Garden Club Brings Colorful Plants to Downtown

Waukesha organization planted about 500 petunias, fountain grass and coleus plants.

About 25 volunteers gathered Thursday morning to bring a little cheer to the downtown area by planting petunias, fountain grass and coleus plants. The Spring City Garden Club donated their time and money to fill the planters with colorful plants.

About 500 plants were planted by the group.

“It is wonderful to have the club show their commitment to beautifying the downtown area,” said Waukesha Business Improvement District Executive Director Meghan Sprager.

Because it was a cold morning, The Steaming Cup opened its tea room for the volunteers to get warm. The Steaming Cup also donated hot drinks and bakery items to replenish the gardening group, Sprager said.

“They underwrote all of the costs for the food for the volunteers,” Sprager said.
