Fox River Gets a Little Spring Cleaning

First spring clean up event through Working for Waukesha was successful with about 20 volunteers helping to de-litter the Fox River.

About 20 volunteers spent a warm and sunny Sunday outside cleaning up the river walk in downtown Waukesha.

“Thanks to our volunteers for dedicating their time and effort to pick up litter and trash in downtown Waukesha and along the Riverwalk,” said downtown resident Tom Hekkers in an e-mail to Patch.

The volunteers met at the Hekkers home to begin cleaning up trash along the Fox River. “The program, Working for Waukesha was formed as an initiative to invite and welcome volunteers to help make the city of Waukesha a clean, safe and inviting community,” states a news release from Waukesha County UW Cooperative Extension, which recently facilitated a Community Change Circle program at Carroll University.
