Editor’s Note: The following information came from a Waukesha Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department news release.

What is crazy Olympic Day? Crazy Olympic Day gives children of all ages a chance to participate in Olympic themed activities taking place at Buchner Pool from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 25. The cost of admission is $3.50 without a pool pass.

Once the children arrive at the pool they will be placed into age appropriate groups based off of different countries that participate in the Olympics; this will give children a chance to learn more about Italy, China, USA, Australia and the Dominican Republic.

Now for the fun part, activities! There will be five different stations for each group to rotate through. The five stations include:

  • Olympic Rings- Can you make your way through our crazy maze of hula-hoops scattered through out the pool? Join your team in a relay race to find out.
  • Water Balloon Shot Put/Javelin Noodles-See how much power that arm of yours has as you launch water balloons and noodles to see how far they go.
  • Splash/Dive Contest, The Luge, & Chalk Drawing- Test your splashing and diving ability to see how high of a score you can receive. Or make your best attempt at catching flying objects as you slip slide through the luge.
  • Backboard Relay Race- Haven’t you always wanted a chance to use the backboard you’ve seen around the pool deck area? Now is your chance! See how fast you can paddle your way across the pool using a backboard.
  • Diving Rings- How many points can you score while collecting rings? Make your way through the depths of Buchner Pool in an attempt to collect the diving rings with the highest numbers placed on them.

This event is sure to offer enough fun for all ages. The top three scoring countries will receive ribbons and everyone that participates will leave the pool with their very own Olympic-themed goodie bag. We hope to see you all there, and never fear – if it rains on Saturday, we plan on holding the event the following morning, Sunday, June 26 at the same time.
