Buchnerfest a Blast

Families and children enjoyed the annual event.

Cloudy skies didn’t dampen the fun at Buchnerfest on Saturday.

Children and families enjoyed listening to strolling mariachi musicians, a drum circle and stories at the annual event, which is organized and run Waukesha Department of Park & Recreation and the Waukesha Public Library.

The theme of the event was One World, Many Stories and featured music, games, stories or crafts from around the world. Children got to make beads, Australian aboriginal art, a Chinese jump rope and a Norwegian cork troll.

Showcasing the dairy state were a cow and calf for petting from Cozy Nook Farm, with owners Tom and Joan Oberhouse and their son Charlie.

The event was also the kick off the library’s summer reading program for children. Library staff registered children for the popular summer program.
