Bike to Work Day is Friday

Events and free coffee will be in downtown Waukesha.

Trade your trusty commuter car with its four wheels and opt for a ride around town with two wheels on Friday. in Waukesha, according to the Waukesha Bicycle Alliance’s website.

The events included breakfast and grab bags from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. under the pavilion at Riverfront Plaza. Free coffee from Café de Arts will be served. Bikers can also receive a free check up from a mechanic on site.

Later in the day, a party and raffle will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Café de Arts. The raffle begins at 6:30 p.m. and includes gift certificates and bike helmets, lights and fenders, according to the website.

Spring City Spinners and ProHealth Care are sponsoring the event.

The Waukesha Common Council gave permission to the Waukesha Bicycle Alliance to close the central portion of Municipal Parking Lot 1 from 5:30 am. to 9:30 a.m. Friday, according to the city’s Engineering Department.
