Waukesha BluesFest Poster Contest Winner

The Waukesha Rotary Club is proud to announce the winner of the 2014 Waukesha BluesFest Poster Contest, Laura Kestly.  Laura has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh.  She is an award-winning artist in a variety of venues, previous winner of The Waukesha BluesFest Poster Contest in 2012, Good Harvest Recycled Art Contest and two-time Purchase Prize Winner of the Spring Creek Art Show.  She is married and lives with her husband, two sons and English bulldog in the Town of Delafield.  Laura loves to incorporate recycled elements into her art creations when she can and enjoys doing customized pieces.  You can find some of her artwork at: www.facebook.com/CageFreeArt.  Prints of Laura’s poster design will be available for purchase at Waukesha BluesFest on Friday, August 8 and Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Naga-Waukee Park in Delafield, Wisconsin.

The second place winner in the contest is Deb Muraro of Dousman and taking third place is Amy Franczak of Summit.

Waukesha BluesFest Art Show, which is held in conjunction with the festival will feature 10 select artists representing a broad variety of affordable art. The 2014 artists include: Audey Casey - oil painting, Laura Fesser - polymer clay, Lynn Gaffey - fused glass jewelry and wearable art, Michelle Kobriger - enamel jewelry, Mark Harder - upcycled clocks, Don Maupin - turned wood, Don Priewe - metal sculpture, Dewey Sherman - pottery, Ann Windell - painted glass and Shay Johnson - leather.

Waukesha BluesFest, “An American Music and Art Festival, is in its 8th year and is held at Naga-Waukee Park in Delafield, 1/2 mile north of I-94 on STH 83.  Gates will open at 12:30 pm both days with the music running from 1 pm until 10:30 pm.

The entertainment line-up for the 2014 Waukesha BluesFest includes 16 national, regional and local acts, featuring headliner Canned Heat along with Selwyn Birchwood on Friday, August 8th, and Curtis Salgado headlining with Trampled Under Foot on Saturday, August 9th.

In addition to the live music entertainment and art show, Waukesha BluesFest will feature an exceptional selection of food from popular local restaurants, Café Esperanza, Silver Spur Texas Smokehouse BBQ and Koepsell’s Popcorn.  The Waukesha Rotary Club beverage stand will provide a full selection of beverages including a variety of beer choices, wine, soft drinks and bottled water.

Advance tickets are now on sale and Waukesha BluesFest fans can recognize significant savings by purchasing their tickets in advance.  Through August 7th ticket prices are $15 for a single day pass and $25 for a 2-day pass. At-the-gate prices will be $20 for a single day and $35 for the 2-day pass.  Parking and taxes are included with the admission price.  Tickets are available on-line at www.waukeshabluesfest.com.  Tickets are also available in person at Almont Gallery in downtown Waukesha, all Waukesha State Bank locations and all White House of Music locations.

Major sponsors include the Waukesha law firm of Cramer, Multhauf & Hammes, LLP, Waukesha State Bank, Pro Health Care and Clear Channel Outdoor, along with many additional sponsors.  Proceeds from the event will be distributed by the Waukesha Rotary Club Charitable Fund to local charities and civic projects.
