Overnight Lodging is Now Possible in Chester’s Historic Downtown at The Publick House

Chester, NJ – Tis the season for graduations, weddings, family reunions and special occasions so why not celebrate at The Publick House.  The Publick House located at 111 Main Street just completed an extensive renovation of its second floor into ten spacious suites and two corporate meeting rooms. The suites located above the tavern and banquet center offer all the amenities of home including queen size bed in master room, private full bath, sitting area with queen size pull out sofa bed, coffee, writing desk, 36 inch flat screen TV, Wi-Fi and cable. Two private meeting rooms can accommodate up to forty people at any given time. Guests also have access to balcony from the common area overlooking Main Street in charming downtown Chester.  Lodging at the Publick House Inn is the only one of its kind and is the only hotel in Chester in a 10 mile radius. The seamless keypad entry makes it for easy for overnight guests to enter and exit the premises as needed and the facility is completely handicapped accessible.

Recent out of town guests Eric & Vanessa Kitchen utilized the Inn over Easter Weekend while visiting family in Chester. “We loved the Inn. I normally end up staying in Morristown when I visit my sister but we will be staying here from now on. The two room suite is nearly double the size of a standard hotel room giving me and my family plenty of space. The staff was also very accommodating and the food at the tavern downstairs was fantastic especially the brick oven pizza. You just don’t see too many wood burning ovens anymore,” stated Eric Kitchen of Kingston, NY.

This charming brick building built in 1810, served as a hotel and tavern in the heart of Chester, NJ. Over 200 years later, this great historic, gathering place has been fully restored back to its original state. In the 1900’s she was registered under the National Historic Registry as an historic American building. Ever since, she has served as a “publick” gathering spot in the heart of the community. Her preservation and reopening, which includes replication of the original two-story porch and balcony, returns to the tavern to its central “publick” place in the community.  The combination of this beautiful building, exceptional food & wine, patio dining & weekly entertainers make The Publick House an ideal place for dining with family and friends, overnight lodging, or your next milestone event in the banquet center.
