Blues Fest Poster

The Waukesha Rotary Club is proud to announce the winner of the 2013 Waukesha BluesFest Poster Contest, Meghan Hopper. Meghan, an alumna of Waukesha North High School, has lived in Waukesha for 14 years. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, she returned to Waukesha North High School to teach English and Drama for a few years. Enrolling in a graphic design class at Waukesha County Technical College has inspired her interest in visual art to match her love of the theatrical. She enjoys creative writing, film studies, and expanding her musical horizons, and she looks forward to more artistic endeavors in the future. Prints of Meghan's poster design will be available for purchase at Waukesha BluesFest on Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10, 2013, at Naga-Waukee Park in Delafield, Wisconsin.  The second place winner in the contest is Marilyn Stigler of Waukesha and taking third place is Deb Muraro of Dousman.

Waukesha BluesFest Art Show, which is held in conjunction with the festival, will feature 18 select artists representing a broad variety of affordable art. The artists: Michelle Kobriger, Waukesha - jewelry; Lynn Gaffey, Waukesha - fused glass; Don Priewe, Hartford - metal sculpture; Kevin Myers, Peducah, Kentucky - mixed media; Ted Turner, Wauwatosa - painting; Don Maupin, Waukesha - wood; Shay Johnson, Waukesha - leather; and Patty McRery, Waukesha - photography..

Waukesha BluesFest, "An American Music and Art Festival," is in its seventh year and is held at Naga-Waukee Park in Delafield, 1/2 mile north of I-94 on STH 83. Gates will open at 12:30 pm both days with the music running from 1 pm until 10:30 pm.

The entertainment line-up for the 2013 Waukesha BluesFest includes 16 national, regional and local acts, featuring headliner The James Hunter Six on Friday, August 9, and Moreland & Arbuckle on Saturday, August 10.

In addition to the live music entertainment and art show, Waukesha BluesFest will feature an exceptional selection of food from popular local restaurants and a full selection of beverages. On Friday, draught beer will be 2 for the price of 1 before 5 pm. Come out for great music and bargain prices on draught beer Friday afternoon!

Advance tickets are now on sale and Waukesha BluesFest fans can recognize significant savings by purchasing their tickets in advance. Through August 8 ticket prices are $15 for a single day pass and $25 for a 2-day pass. At-the-gate prices will be $20 for a single day and $35 for the 2-day pass. Parking and taxes are included with the admission price. Tickets are available on-line at www.waukeshabluesfest.com. Tickets are also available by mail and in person at Almont Gallery in downtown Waukesha, all Waukesha State Bank locations and all White House of Music locations.

Proceeds from the event will be distributed by the Waukesha Rotary Club Charitable Fund to local charities and civic projects.
