Enough is Enough! Perry says no to Waukesha stadium tax.

To the residents of Assembly District 97 (City & Town of Waukesha, Mukwonago and Genesee):

What follows is my position on the growing movement by Milwaukee to build a new Bucks basketball stadium on the backs of Waukesha County taxpayers. It's time to put our foot down and say enough is enough!

We pay our fair share in taxes and we support our beloved Wisconsin sports teams and attractions with a loyalty and commitment rarely found elsewhere. But we do it on our terms, not by another tax imposed on us. Do not fall for the argument we need to spread the wealth around.

Governor Scott Walker and the Republican-led legislature have made historic gains in providing tax relief throughout Wisconsin. We must continue to fight against taxes imposed on Waukesha from Milwaukee. Countless government projects originate in Milwaukee followed by an effort to tax the suburbs to pay for these projects.

My experience as an elected alderman working on the finance committee in the City of Waukesha assures me there are other solutions. Rather than taxing Waukesha County residents, Milwaukee, do the hard work upfront. Find creative ways to get things done without always turning to taxation as your first course of action.

I urge all Waukesha County residents to vote against any tax referendum to pay for the Milwaukee Bucks stadium. And, I absolutely commit to all residents within District 97—City and Town of Waukesha, Mukwonago and Genesee—I will never support a regional tax on Waukesha County to build a Milwaukee Bucks stadium. Waukesha residents will keep their money in their pockets where it belongs.

As a conservative Republican leader, I believe in the power of private enterprise. If the Milwaukee Bucks truly need a new stadium to generate profit, let them make the business case to investors. Investors will jump at the chance to be involved, if the investment is solid. Waukesha is a proud, strong, fiscally conservative leader in the region. We must end the repeated attempts to tax Waukesha every time Milwaukee cannot meet its financial commitments.

As a proud Waukesha resident and elected public servant, I urge you to vote August 12 in the Republican Primary for Assembly District 97. When you decide who should replace Bill Kramer, who is not running again, make sure you vote for experience on current issues within the district. Vote for a record of success in fighting for local control of issues that matter to people in the City and Town of Waukesha, Mukwonago and Genesee. Vote for Aaron Perry August 12.
