The Carroll University Jazz Ensemble will perform “old school” jazz on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at 7:30 p.m. in Shattuck Music Center, 218 N. East Ave., Waukesha. This event is free and open to the public.
The performance will feature music from Count Basie and Duke Ellington, among others, and will be led by new director Pete Lange, who is completing his bachelor’s degree in Music Education at Carroll. He draws upon the expert counsel and assistance of Rob Engl, as the Carroll Music Department confirms its commitment to creating a truly authentic Jazz performance culture.
Lange has taught instrumental and vocal music at Catholic Memorial High School since 2009. He leads Concert Band, Jazz Band, Chorale and Show Choir, and teaches Introduction to Business. Lange also has experience as an actor, singer, and trumpeter, and he performs regularly. He served as vocal director for Catholic Memorial’s productions of “White Christmas,” “Guys and Dolls,” “State Fair,” and Waukesha Civic Theatre’s production of “Once on This Island,” in which he also played Agwe, god of water.

More About Carroll University
Carroll University is the oldest 4-year higher education institution in the state of Wisconsin. In fact, it was established as Carroll College prior to Wisconsin becoming a state in the 1840's. Carroll is always improving; since the arrival of Campus President, Dr. Douglas N. Hastad, the campus has seen many upgrades in the Fall of 2006. Some of these include: the change from "college" to "university" status, a new track was built, the Pioneer Hall dormatory was erected, enhancing renovations were done to the Campus Center and the the Main Lawn was improved.
Students seem to be very happy with all what their Campus Center has to offer (i.e. ATM, Recycling bins, caferteria and fast food restaurants, book store, public rest rooms, and more). The Campus Center also holds conference/meeting rooms, a ballroom, concert hall, radio station, information desk, events office, and the campus' public safety department.
See the University's website for more detailed information on the benefit of attending Caroll.
