Lecture and Pictorial Presentation by Historian John Schoenknecht

Bethesda Spring Restoration Proposal by Working For Waukesha

Local historian John Schoenknecht will present “Bethesda Spring: Past, Present and Future,” a public lecture on the spring that earned Waukesha its’ reputation as the “Saratoga of the West”, on Tues., Feb. 12, 7 p.m. at Waukesha Public Library’s Community Room.

Bethesda Spring, the spring that started it all, the water that ‘healed’ Colonel Richard Dunbar ‘of an incurable disease,’ still flows today. Watch and listen as Historian John Schoenknecht shares the storied history of the spring, the fall of an era, and what has led to the octagonal concrete structure hiding a mess of piping within the spring.

Bethesda Spring has seen better days, and it is time for a change. After the presentation, be part of the community conversation about what the future possibilities are for this important local treasure, and, what it will take to get there.

The free event is sponsored by Working for Waukesha and Waukesha County UW Cooperative Extension.
