An Evening in the Spring City
Waukesha County Historical Society & Museum, 101 W Main St, Waukesha, WI | Get Directions »
$14.00
Join the Waukesha County Museum as we travel back to the late 1800s when Waukesha was known throughout the country as the Spring City! The rich and famous travelled here to ‘take the waters,’ including Mary Todd Lincoln. We will begin the night with a performance by Jessica Michna as she portrays Mary Todd Lincoln later in her life as she reflects on the days of her girlhood in the genteel society of Lexington, Kentucky, her marriage to the gangly young lawyer, and eventually her rise to become the First Lady. After the performance, 8-12 members of the West Side Victorian Dance Company will demonstrate and discuss dances from 1859-1868, complete with authentic 1800s dresses and suits. Fee: $14 per member, $15 per non-member, light refreshments are included. Registration is required by June 22nd, and spaces will fill quickly. To register, please call the Education Department at (262) 521-2859, ext. 224.
