For Waukesha Patch’s Whiz Kid of the Week, Becca Richter, a 17-year-old junior at Waukesha North High School, winning the 2012 Distinguished Young Woman of Waukesha title was following in her mother’s footsteps. The scholarship competition was previously known as the “Junior Miss” competition. Becca’s mother was the Oak Creek winner of the Junior Miss competition in 1988 and decades later Becca is representing Waukesha in the state competition in August. “I thought that it was exciting that she was passing it on to me,” Becca said.
