33rd State Senate District Primary: Kapenga is the Better Choice

To conservatives in the 33rd State Senate District:

A couple of years ago, I decided to email every member of the Wisconsin State Senate on an issue.  After copying-and-pasting 33 times and drafting my message, I clicked “send.”  Days went by with nothing but automated replies but then out of the blue, I received a letter from Senator Rich Zipperer.  I was pleased that he agreed with me on the issue but even more impressed that he took the time to respond to me.  What impressed me the most?  I wasn’t even in his district.

When I later learned that he was to be my new State Senator (redistricting), I was thrilled until I learned he was stepping down to take a position within the Walker Administration.

In early August, Senator Zipperer’s replacement was the last thing on my mind.  I was suffering from election fatigue and undecided on the US Senate primary when I was informed he’d be making an appearance at the Waukesha Victory Center.

While waiting for my turn to speak with the candidate, I began chatting with a pleasant guy who was there as well.  He had his daughter with him so I assumed it was a county party volunteer.  We spoke about the recall election, Act 10, ending funding for Planned Parenthood, and how to attract businesses to Wisconsin.  After ten minutes or so, he introduced himself--it was Chris Kapenga.

Two things flashed through my mind: 1) This is “the-guy-with-the- name-I-probably-cannot-pronounce” when I saw his signs in 2010.  2)  He gets it.

We spoke another ten minutes and I learned he’s a CPA, business owner, a family man, and active in his church.  Before I left the Victory Center, I decided I would not only vote for Chris Kapenga, but do all I could to help him become my next State Senator.  It wasn’t just that we agreed on the issues—but he was passionate about them.  He didn’t just talk to me—he listened to me.

Ads from his opponent, Rep. Paul Farrow, have begun touting his endorsement list. Paul Farrow is a fine legislator with a solid record and I have nothing negative to say about him, but when it comes to the most important issue—jobs—the choice is clear.

As a CPA, Chris Kapenga understands what it takes to attract businesses to Wisconsin.  He understands the risk they take, the legal challenges they face, the investments they make in capital and most importantly—in people.  Chris Kapenga knows what it takes to create jobs.

I urge all of those in the 33rd State Senate to join me in supporting citizen-legislator, business owner, CPA, and job creator Chris Kapenga when they vote on November 6th.

(If you’re unsure of your legislative district, go to legis.wisconsin.gov and click “Who Represents Me?”   After entering your address, your voting district for this election will be shown under “2011 Wisconsin Act 43.)

Wonder why every Repulican is endorsing Farrow? Kapenga attacks Repulicans for no reason and is REALLY hard to work with.

Wow. This guy meets a candidate and the candidates message resonates with him, and the first two posts try to shoot down the candidate, without regard to his message? Both of you should be ashamed of yourselves. I don't know if Laura and Jeff actually posted, or if some loser behind anonymity decided to use their names so folks would take him/her seriously (I note that they are both new adds to patch). If you don't like Chris, or Paul's message, then discuss that. But to say inane things like Chris is hard to work with, or that he fights with Republicans shows that you don't "get it." We want the process to take a while, our GOOD republicans SHOULD fight each other when one of them is talking nonsense. We get along when things are in line with our beliefs, but when we have republicans who can't even agree on BASIC conservitive ideology, then it's good to fight that battle.

Thanks Nick. You know me and know I would never behave in such a immature way. People need to grow up and address the issues, not behave like toddlers.

Please...ask me. I work for Chris. I also know Paul and Margaret very well, and respect them as people. I support Chris because I think he bring a unique skill set to the State Senate that has never been there. Chris would be the first CPA in State Senate history. While Paul is a great guy, I believe we need someone with a CPA background looking at the $32 Billion dollar annual budget.

If you "Nick Oliver"aka Chris Kapenga had "basic conservative ideology". Maybe one of us, or someone would have endorsed you?

Given that you are clearly not "Jeff Fitzgerald" (He wouldn't even behave this way) and you must not know Nick Oliver, who has in fact been around GOP circles for at least 10 years now... you need to get a clue. I would ask the moderators to do a better job of vetting people who are impersonating others. I believe that is against the law to do.

Hey, how about using your real name instead of masking it behind Fitz.

As the REAL Laura Gralton, will whoever is posting as L. Gralton please cease. While I support and work with Chris, Paul is a nice and decent person. I would never stoop so low as to call someone a pretty boy. GROW UP PEOPLE.

Thanks Sarah. I appreciate your help on this. I would take a good look at the "Jeff Fitzgerald" as well. I know the former Speaker of the Assembly wouldn't behave this way or post such comments.

Thanks Sarah, you may want to tank that fake fitz too, I'm guessing that they were one in the same. I don't know if you can pull IP's when the accounts were created earlier today, but you may see that they are the same.

Hey Fake Jeff, you are right, I did lose to Don. I've supported Don from day one (I was one of the first supporters of his when he came to our event in West Bend and was looking at running against Mickey), I decided to run this year, not against what Don has done, but what Don hasn't done. I'm not one who thinks that just because you are a decent conservative (and Don is one of the better out there, along with my favorite, Grothmann) that they should sit easy. We should be pushing to nullify Obamacare in the State of Wisconsin, and Don refuses to do so. We should be eliminating all the wastefull spending and programs in this state, I haven't seen too many bills penned by Don to that. Also, with Belling (ignorantly) chiming in on our race, the good folks of our district who knew no better had no choice but to vote for Don, I don't blame them. When someone you trust (Belling) calls Don's opponent a snake, it's a no brainer. Anyway, like I said, Don IS a decent conservative, and I'll be voting for him next week. None of this is relevant. Btw, you asked Laura what you said that was untrue? We can start with your name, the rest pretty much falls inline from there.

So, what you are left with, since wit isn't working for you, is claiming that I am Kapenga? So, is he so brilliant that he opened this account months ago, and used it to chime in on the bug line and other things not related to him, ALL so that today he could argue with the likes of you? Wow. Just, wow. Anyway, enjoy your night, fakefitz.

Wait, are you claiming to be a republican? We have zero proof of that. We also have no idea who you are anyway, so how can I be attacking a republican? Btw, I'll repeat myself, there is no problem getting in the face of any politician, whether you are on their side or not, when they are wrong. I'm tired of spineless "republicans," it's one of the reasons I ran in the 22nd. It used to be that we were happen when we just had an R in front of a candidate, but we've had experience now with decent conservative R's now. No longer is that enough, we want decent conservative R's with spines. I'm done talking with the wall now, we are getting nowhere. At least I've been able to keep busy working while playing this game.

You learn a lot about a man's character during adversity..........

When freshmen assembly member Paul Farrow had a question on why protective services were exempt from collect bargaining Farrow went to the Republican Party leaders for his answers. What did freshmen assembly member Chris Kapenga do? Kapenga was the star of the gossip columnist Daniel Bice's articles and Jeff Flemming's loser of the week on the Charlie Sykes show. Kapenga openly ran his mouth calling key members in his own party and the governor a sell out. I believe this is why every Republican has turned their back on Kapenga and not endorsed him. We need a mature senator that can handle conflict without starring in the gossip column. That's why I am supporting Paul Farrow for senate and you should also.
