Zipperer Picked for Joint Committee on Finance

Local senator selected to play bigger role in state's budget.

State Sen. Rich Zipperer, R-Pewaukee, was appointed on Friday by Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald, R-Juneau, to serve on the Joint Committee on Finance, according to a news release.

The Joint Committee on Finance is the legislative committee largely responsible for passing the state budget every two years.

“I’m honored to join the Joint Committee on Finance, and I look forward to continuing my work for the taxpayers of the 33rd Senate District in this capacity,” said Zipperer in the new release.  “It is clear that the Legislature’s number one goal must continue to be improving our economy so that job creators will once again look to grow jobs in our state.

“By focusing on job creation and putting the needs of the taxpayers first, we’ll also ensure that families, seniors and small businesses will be able to afford to live, work and retire here.  That’s what my focus has been since first being elected in 2006, and it’s what I’ll focus on as a member of the finance committee.”

In addition to his appointment to the Joint Committee on Finance, Senator Zipperer will continue serving as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Utilities, Commerce and Government Operations, the release states.

"Balancing the budget, prioritizing the state's spending and putting a stop to runaway government is no easy task,” said Fitzgerald in the news release. “Sen. Zipperer brings a strong conservative voice to that conversation, and it's the taxpayers who will truly benefit.”
