Woman Overdoses on Heroin During Drug Test, Police Say
Waukesha woman was being medically cleared following her arrest in the Town of Brookfield.
A Waukesha woman, who was being medically cleared at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, overdosed on heroin while she was supposed to be providing a urine sample, according to a criminal complaint filed in Waukesha County Circuit Court.
Niki J. Reichel, 27, was charged with disorderly conduct-domestic abuse on Monday. She faces up to 90 days in jail and $1,000 in fines.
According to the complaint:
Officer from the Town of Brookfield Police Department arrested Reichel at a Waukesha gas station after a disturbance reportedly occurred in the Town of Brookfield in a vehicle at 2:38 a.m. Jan. 23. A man told police Reichel hit him in the head two times after they argued about her having a drug problem.
An officer arrested Reichel, who said she used Valium, and took her to the hospital for medical clearance because she appeared impaired.
At the hospital, Reichel went into the bathroom to provide a urine sample, but she didn’t come out of the bathroom. A nurse eventually got her to come out of the bathroom. She was unable to stay awake, her breathing slowed to five breaths a minute and her oxygen levels dropped to 78 percent.
Reichel was revived with the drug Narcan. She told the officer she used heroin earlier, not Valium. She also said she hid heroin in her bra and snorted it in the hospital bathroom.

They should always let drug abuses die. Why should we pay them for SSDI? I am so tired of hearing these "people" use drugs for recreational use.
I also think the people who supply the drugs should over dose themselves. I know, it sounds harsh but really.....they serve no purpose to society, at all.

Heaven forbid Mr. Cranton you are prescribed a pain reliever for something like back pain and all of a sudden become blind sided by addiction! It's not so black n white, there's a story behind each and everyone. Get that speck out of your eye!

Some countries allow addicts to " register" and get their drugs for free. The quality can be assured, and the addict doesn't have to go rob someone to get their drugs. We need to be a lot less harsh on people. Some people drink to excess, but that's OK because it's legal. Same thing, different approach.

My tax money pays enough deadbeats for Obamaphones and Quest Cards, no way in hell am I allowing my taxes to go toward drug use for addicts.
Better yet, taint the supply with poison. The public sees it on the news that thousands are dying from poisoned drugs, and many will stop. Those that do not stop will succumb to their own fate. Problem solved.

I have food stamps and you know what I have a job and I contribute to my community but no all you see is that I have food stamps so I MUST be a deadbeat. Wrong! For how long? The problem is not using government assistance. The problem is that a large percentage of our population has made government assistance a lifestyle choice. These programs were created and should be used as a temporary measure to get someone back on their feet if they have encounters financial difficulties.
If you are using food stamps in this manner, I'm sure nobody would really have a problem with it. However, if you have been using them for years is when the issue arises.
I would also like to add that if you use gov't assistance I certainly hope you do not have cable, cellphone, Xbox, or a big HDTV. If you do, you are part of the problem, if not, we're glad to help.

My son died 5yrs ago from a drug overdose, and beleive me, saying.g they deserve to die! Shame on you, ADDICTION is a disease, I can remember how much he tryed to fight his disease, and couldn't I went to counseling on how to deal with it and was told it's a war inside themselves to overcome their addiction. Stating they should die or lock them up is not the answer. And blaming the parent isn't the answer either because I also have a daughter who is compltely the opposite. When you come up with a more sensitive answer you will have my attention.

3 years ago i used herion. All day, everyday. Then I went to prison for a probation violation. While inside, I got the help that I needed and wanted. 15 months ago I got out. Then I got a job, two actually. Eventually I got promoted at one of my jobs. Then again to the GM position in November. Yesterday I bought a BMW. If I can get clean its possible for anyone else. Its a hard war inside your body and mind well worth fighting. Life can be great! Hopefully my words are encouraging to others that suffer or know someone who suffers from addiction. Help is out there. Have a nice night!

Ban Narcan, if they overdose and die it is called Darwinism. Congrats to those that kicked the habit, but I am tired of paying more to support, rehab, scrape up those that don't. Not to mention the increased cost at stores to cover the thefts that addicts do and the car shopping, and the burglaries, and the etc, etc.

Getting addicted to something isn't a disease, it's a choice. I can't think of anything additive that just happens to people. You choose to drink, you choose to gamble, you choose to do drugs, etc. Kudos to Mr. Bean for choosing to get clean.

Every person taking their first drink does so under the assumption they will not become addicted. Some are right, some are not. Those who do not become addicted are just lucky they weren't vulnerable, that is to say, they were lucky their brain did not react in an abnormal way so as to make the alcohol (or drug) as important as food and water. Go a couple of days without water and you will understand the compulsion craving addicts face. And, by the way, there is no disability for addiction since the late 1980's.
