Woman Not 'Lovin' It' at Waukesha McDonald's

Milwaukee woman, upset with the unavailability of McNuggets, tosses french fries at drive-thru window before getting arrested, according to criminal complaint.

OUTSIDE MILWAUKEE, WI -- Contrary to the company’s slogan, a local woman wasn’t “lovin’ it” when McDonald’s ran out of chicken McNuggets Sunday morning.

Andrea R. Hill, 22, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Monday with one count of disorderly conduct and one count of resisting an officer after she was accused of chucking her French fries at the drive-thru window in Waukesha, and began to hit the window when an employee told her they were out of McNuggets. If convicted, she faces up to one year in jail and $11,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

At 3:39 a.m. Sunday, Hill went through the drive-thru at McDonald’s with her cousin and ordered several food items, including chicken McNuggets. After getting the food, Hill realized the McNuggets were not with the order, so she went through the drive-thru again.

When she got to the window an employee told her they were out of the nuggets, but swiped her debit card so she could get free food for the inconvenience. However, Hill became belligerent with the employee, threw fries at the drive-thru window, got out of her car and began to shake and hit the window.

When Waukesha police officers arrived at the scene, Hill’s cousin confirmed what had happened and Hill was placed under arrest. She resisted officers and had to be decentralized and placed in a restraint chair before being taken to Waukesha County Jail.

Hill told officers she had several drinks earlier in the evening before going to the restaurant.

She’s currently free on a $1,000 signature bond while awaiting trial.

I hope she's convicted and that this becomes the most expensive trip to McDonalds. What does it say about someone who loses control just because a business runs out of an item? If her craziness is not quelled, I see danger ahead.

Oh. And don't forget to ban her for life from McDonalds.

Uhmmm. Well, it DOES SAY that AFTER she LEFT the drive through, that she realized that the Mcnuggets were NOT IN the bag? Hello..? I would be UPSET too!? THEY MUST have CHARGED for something that wasn't in the bag, but even if they didn't charge for them, they SHOULD have told her from the beginning, that they were out of THAT item, AND PERHAPS she would like another item, instead? Customer Service Skills 101? How many times have you ordered something, got all the way home, only to realize that THEY forgot something? And had to DRIVE all the way back to get it? WASTING gas/money? She DID have to go back through the drive through. IF Mc Donalds employee TOLD HER from the beginning, to make another choice, would THIS problem have happened...AT ALL? True though she might need a few anger management classes. She probably should have went inside to discuss it. They(company) do not like the humiliation or embarrassment, and they might have offered her MORE benefits. Like a FREE ORDER of McNuggets on her next visit? In fact, thats' still a good idea? :)

You are correct. The order taker should have told the woman they were out of the mcnuggets so, yes, she did have a right to be angry after finding the nuggets were not in the bag. She did not, however, have the right to get out of the car and cause a scene. Especially since she had been drinking.

C'mon now...let's not make excuses for this "woman". She obviously has issues and it wouldn't surprise me to find she also has a record. This type of behavior is inexcusable. I have, several times, come home from a fast food drive thorugh to find missing items. Is it annoying? Hell yes, but did I go back and act like an escaped patient from a mental facility? Hell no. I told them what happened and I was compensated for the inconvenience. Let's act like humans people, not wild animals.

OH get A grip! At McD's you always check the order BEFORE you LEAVE the DRIVE thru! And THEY were going to GIVE her something ELSE for FREE! SEE, anyone can CAPITALIZE at random! IT ADDS nothing to the POSTING!

after reading your comment on how terribly this woman was treated and humiliated and denigrated by McDonalds I am thinking that she should have set fire to the place or at least ram her car through the front door. McDonalds stepped on her sense of entitlement(I want what I want and I want it NOW!) and they should pay dearly for that.Close down the store!

You're kidding me, right?! How is this McDonalds fault? Restaurants run out of food. If she was that desperate for deep fried chicken, she could have opted for the selects. I personally don't really care for either, but it beats what its going to cost this woman for her actions.

@NashvilleBill- I must be "missing" part of the story...they must have condensed the story here? I read that she was arrested for Disorderly conduct, and resisting an officer...doesn't say anything about being drunk? Nor is there a comment about her "being at a bar"? Is this same story posted somewhere else? :( ?

I'm sorry, I did not read anywhere where this woman was drunk? It just said she went there in the early am hours (I know several people who are up late/on different shift work that would head for a drive through early morning)? Secondly, The drive through sales person didn't offer any adjustments to her, until she came back in for the second time. I do not condone anyone attacking anyone else, and I do believe that I made a comment that she does need to seek anger management classes. I am sorry that my "take" on the situation, or my personal opinion has upset you. My intention was not to upset anyone, but to merely express my feelings/my thoughts about this situation? I will pray for all the parties involved, including you as well. I am one who still wonders WHY all of us, black or white, jew or gentile, WHY we can not "just get along". Dumb, huh? :)

@Jane Greenwell: It is OK to be upset. It is NOT OK EVER to throw food at another person, get out of the car and bang on a window. This woman was so out of control she had to be placed in a restraint chair by the police.
If you read the article carefully it was noted that the employee had given her a credit toward free food. This woman is out of control and if she was driving I hope she is also charged with driving under the influence as she admitted to drinking.
I have daughters that worked at McDonalds when they were teens. This is often a persons first experience with customer service. Are mistakes made? Absolutely!!! But if anyone terrorized and threatened my daughter like this they would be looking at a major lawsuit from me. Shame on you for even slightly condoning this type of behavior......over a few pieces of chicken.

She paid for something she didn't get. The moron who took the order didn't tell her they were out. Maybe the twit thought that at 3:30 in the morning... they could put one over on the drunken late-nighter. I'm not saying the freak-out was right... but something tells me the workers need some of that "bail and fine" action.

Yes she did, but she did get a credit for the mcnuggets. That still does not give her the right to freak out the way she did. Hopefully this will be a lesson she won't soon forget.

But if you ARE a christian...DID YOU KNOW that according to the Bible, we are SUPPOSED to RESPECT those who are in authority above us, whether they be bad OR good. So you have not any excuse. Whether they be good or bad..which ever your opinion falls. I did not like your comment. It was derogatory towards blacks in general and disrespectful to the President of the United States. :( I might be a "nobody" but I still have the right to reflect my opinion.

And THIS, is what you get when you decide to listen to Dr Spock & letting the gov't convince that spanking your child when needed growing up is bad thing. Sadly, they used to always and actually still do, tell you that spanking your child ONLY contributes to them hitting when they grow up. We never had near as many problems out of kids before we started listening to that crap. Kids are hitting and beating people more today than ever. They've also NOT learned self control. Kids today believe that if they want it, they should get it, no matter what, when where ir how and eve That they deserve in worse, our President is even adding to that thought for them. That they deserve it even if they haven;t earned it or deserve it or can afford it. Let that child know you'll tap it on the azz when needed, and you want have near as many problems, now or later in life.

Every so often I take a midnight drive to McDonald's. I can't tell you how many times they have screwed up my order. However, I know this can happen, so I check before I leave the window. I'm not moving until I make sure I got what I ordered. Carrying on and getting violent is nuts. If they run out, they should tell the customers, but it still doesn't mean one should behave like a crazy thing. Overkill for sure.

This lady has no excuse for what she did. She should get the 1 year sentence and the fine for the $1,000. There is no way her actions are the fault of McDonalds at all.

If anything she should have to work there for free at the drive thru handing out food during her work release, just to make up for what she did to that worker....

As for her hair being messed up at 3:30 a.m.I think that's what can be expected at such a late hour. You see, It's Bush's fault. Bush was suppose to sign that Bill assuring that they will never run out of nuggets from 3am thru 10am. Looks like they droped the nugget ball. So Blame it on Bush, he said he had the same chicken nugget crave at 3am.

Hi, Frances. Shortly after I started taking police reports for Patch, I ran across this term, "decentralizing" a suspect. I asked what the heck that means. The Tosa police said, "Taking them down."

At a certain point of resistance, when it's clear a suspect is not going to cooperate and continues to threaten violence, police are allowed to escalate. (Remember, a suspect is just a suspect, innocent until proven guilty.) When such a suspect resists to the point that the officer or officers believe they or the public at large are endangered, or that the suspect is a danger to him or herself, or might escape, they "decentralize." That is, they use necessary force to put the suspect on the ground, on his or her face, and in handcuffs behind their back. That's "decentralization."

Now, if there is enough resistance, the officer may even feel it necessary to deliver a blow with hand or knee as well. The officer must justify in his or her report why such a blow was deemed necessary.
