UPDATED: Woman Hit By Vehicle on Summit Ave.
Flight For Life transported woman to Froedtert Hospital after she was struck by a vehicle Saturday night.
A 28-year-old woman was sent to Froedtert Hospital via Flight For Life after she was hit by a truck Saturday night.
The pedestrian vs. vehicle occurred at 8 p.m. at the intersection of Hine and Summit avenues. The accident is still under review and the 17-year-old male driver has not yet been cited.
"The driver did not yield to a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk," said Capt. Ron Oremus in an email to Patch. "A possible contributing factor was the female was wearing dark clothing."

Hope she recovers. It's impossible to see when you are crossing there. I'm always worried for the kids walking from Butler that cross there.

Fred is right on. Teen aged kids are regularly driving wrecklessly up and down Hine and Michigan Ave.

I live in that area and it's not just teens. I've seen plenty of adults driving carelessly in that area too.

I live on Kimberly and reguarly deal with loud music, inattentive drivers and too-fast-for-safety speeds. I would just like to point out, however, that this kid apparently has no charges against him ...so, either he just wasn't doing anything 'wrong' or there's more to the story - like the woman was not acting in a safe manner (dark clothing at night? That's a lit intersection, as I recall, but the road's a dark one overall (not the best choice in clothing) so can we all reserve judging this kid until all of the facts are in? Sure, he might be young but that doesn't necessarily follow that he's immediately eligible for being sent to death row ! Young does not always mean 'reckless' (a lot of the time it does, yes - I'll give you all that one) and I for one would prefer to see more details/an update on this case. How about it Sarah? Any news either on the woman or the kid that hit her? Thanks for the reporting.

Jay, I invite you to come one block over if you think that Kimberly is bad..On a daily basis there is disrespectful teenagers that think it is funny to drive recklessly up and down the street, ( use their phones to video tape it ) they modify their cars to make them louder so that all hours of the night all you hear is things rattling on the walls..the police have been to one particular house at least once daily for about 2 months about these kids and NOTHING is done! The kids & parents just laugh every time the police come because they know the police are not going to do anything..so I guess it means that someone getting seriously hurt is not enough for the police to take action...Yes, you may be correct in saying that this may have been just an " accident "...doubtful due to what goes on in this neighborhood..
