A Waukesha woman who felt – at least while intoxicated – that police should “never talk to her that way” is charged with two misdemeanors, according to a criminal complaint.

Natasha M. Gregory, 30, was charged Feb. 1 in Waukesha County Circuit Court with resisting an officer and disorderly conduct from an Aug. 24 incident at Ryan’s Pub. She faces up to one year in jail and $11,000 in fines if convicted.

According to the complaint:

Officers were investigating a report of a fight at Ryan’s Pub, 1220 The Strand, at 12:03 a.m. Aug. 24.  A bartender pointed out Gregory and another woman to police, stating that they tried to fight with bartenders and several patrons in the bar.

A police officer asked Gregory to step out of the bar, which agitated her. The officer reported she seemed intoxicated with slurred speech. She told the officer that police “would never talk to her that way.”

Gregory came outside at a fast rate toward the officer, so he took a step backward. That’s when, police say, Gregory said she was an “(expletive) Marquette law student in the (expletive) world.”

Police noted there were several people hanging around outside the bar at the time and that known gang members frequently hang out at the bar. They ordered her to sit down on the steps outside the bar. When she ignored police commands, they warned her that she would be tasered. Instead of sitting down, she stepped off the stairs and police took her into custody.

As officers were walking her to the squad car, she was bracing and tensing in an attempt to turn toward the officers. While waiting for another officer to arrive, she sat down on the curb and continued yelling.
