Welcome to Whiz Kids, where Patch shares some great stories about phenomenal kids in Waukesha.

This week’s Whiz Kid, actually Kids, is a group of teens from Ascension Lutheran Church who volunteer at church every week.

Nominated by: Elisabeth Pynn Himmelman, youth & family minster

Whiz Kids: Ascension Lutheran Church Monday Night Worship Cafe Baristas

Ellie Bur (15, North HS), Amanda Whitaker (15, North HS), Brad Steinmetz (15, West HS), Brittany Klotz (15, West HS), Savannah Walczak (14, West HS), Josh Roper (15, West HS) and Mackenzie Mehling (14, West HS)

Whiz Kids' Accomplishment: This group of students just reached their one-year mark of running the coffee shop-style cafe and serving as baristas for Ascension's Monday Night Worship Cafe, a non-traditional, cafe-style worship.

Whiz Kids' Key to Awesomeness: Each week, these students take several hours out of their Monday night to prepare, serve, and clean up the cafe to serve the worshippers. Their awesome attitudes, willingness to serve, and creative ideas about what to serve in the cafe are their keys to awesomeness. Between the seven students, they have given over 700 volunteer hours in this capacity!

Way to go, kids!
