The City of Waukesha Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department announces the 28th annual Waukesha JanBoree will take place Friday, Jan. 18 through Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013.
The three-day festival, occurring throughout Waukesha County, will offer more than 30 winter activities for adults and children alike. Most events are free. The theme for this year’s JanBoree is Fire & Ice.
“It’s going to be another great year,” said Joanna Adamicki, City of Waukesha Parks, Recreation & Forestry Special Events Coordinator. “We’re going to warm a few things up and of course keep other things cool with our theme of 'Fire & Ice' this year.”
The JanBoree will kick off with the opening ceremony on Friday, Jan. 18 at Lowell Park, 2201 Michigan Ave., with TODAY’S TMJ4 Chief Meteorologist John Malan. Events will officially begin at 3 p.m. and culminate with fireworks at 8 p.m.
Throughout JanBoree weekend, “Fire & Ice” events prevail with fun happenings such as the “We Put the Fire in Fire & Ice” show on Friday at Waukesha North High School, an ice sculpting contest, frosty luau, fire & ice crafts, and of course fireworks.
Waukesha JanBoree is Wisconsin’s premiere winter festival and is produced by the City of Waukesha Parks, Recreation & Forestry Dept. along with many community partners.
