What Happened at Petro Mart Friday Night?

Waukesha police responded to a report of a shooting at gas station on Grand Avenue, but all officers found was a drunken man lying in front of the business.

Waukesha police responded to a call of a man being shot at the Grand Avenue Petro & Food Mart Friday night, but it turned that the "victim" was an intoxicated man found lying in front of the station.

According to police reports released Saturday:

Dispatchers received a call at 8:35 p.m. that someone had been shot at the gas station and that there were several suspects in the parking lot.

As officers responded to the scene, dispatchers called the gas station and nobody answered the phone after more than 20 rings.

Several squad cars and at least one ambulance were on the scene, and some streets around the gas station, 304 N. Grand Ave., were closed.

A witness told police that three men pointed a gun at another man, and when the witness turned around he saw another man lying on the ground. The witness did not hear any gunshots fired and said the three men walked away. They were last seen heading west on Williams Street.

Officers on the scene said the man lying on the ground wasn't injured but was "very" intoxicated and uncooperative with police.
