Waukesha Woman Charged With Biting Cop’s Arm

Waukesha woman charged with her second drunken driving offense after being pulled over for a burned out brake light.

A Waukesha police officer’s arm was bitten during a Waukesha woman’s blood test following her operating while intoxicated arrest, according to a criminal complaint.

Breanna K. Vetterman, 23, was charged Friday in Waukesha County Circuit Court with battery to a police officer, resisting an officer causing substantial harm, operating while intoxicated-second offense and operating while revoked.

If convicted, Vetterman faces up to six years in prison on the two felony charges, plus additional jail time on the traffic offenses

According to the complaint:

Vetterman was driving at 12:20 a.m. Friday on Sunset Drive when a police officer noticed the vehicle she was driving had a burned out brake light. The police officer pulled Vetterman over at South East Avenue.

The officer noticed she appeared intoxicated and confused. Vetterman told police she had one glass of wine. When officers asked her to get out of the vehicle, she had poor balance and held onto the door to brace herself. Vetterman started the field sobriety tests but then refused to complete the tests, adding she had two glasses of wine.

Police conducted a breath test on her, which showed she had a .134 percent blood alcohol concentration. They took her into custody and transported her to Waukesha Memorial Hospital for a blood draw. On the way to the hospital, she started swearing at the police officer and became combative at the hospital when it was time for the blood test.

Officers had to hold Vetterman down for the blood draw, so she turned and bit a police officer in the arm. The officer received treatment for the bite at Waukesha Memorial Hospital.

Vetterman was convicted of drunken driving in 2010.

The other night i saw 8+ squad cars up and down madison st. by lowell elementary, no report about that?.... why was this report the only one posted today? given the amount of rising crime in the city, i fail to understand why something like this is a priority. Is the purpose of this site to inform the public about crime in their area, or to distract them with non-sense like this?

And no mention of this mornings police activity over by Butler Middle School with a large police presence with shields out.

Herbert, that was a threat of a man to physically harm himself. We typically do not report about suicide attempts.

FreeSpeech, there are times it will be reported if there are extenuating circumstances.

Sarah, I see you politely ignored my comment, thanks for that. I guess i should assume all other police activity is due to suicide attempts

Mr. T, I am going through the police reports tonight and if I didn't see that call, I was going to ask for more information.

Mr. T,

I am seeing a call for a domestic disturbance in which was taken to the hospital Tuesday night. I think that might have been what you saw the other night.

What was the lady thinking of. That the police man's arm was a piece of steak.
