Waukesha School District Fills Four School Administrative Positions

Saratoga STEM to get a new principal and new assistant principals for North, South and West high schools.

The Waukesha School Board approved candidates recommended for four open administration positions Wednesday night.

The approvals complete administrative hiring for the district, according to Superintendent Todd Gray.

Three of the approvals were for assistant principal positions. Gray said that when the district hires assistant principals, they make sure the candidates have the ability to take the next step.

Saratoga STEM Principal

Michael Leach was approved as principal of the Waukesha STEM Academy - Saratoga campus to replace Ryan Krohn, who is now the assistant superintendent of curriculum, instruction and educational accountability for the district.

Leach has been a principal in Wauwatosa since 2005 and is currently the principal at Wilson Elementary and Wauwatosa STEM schools. Leach is a doctoral candidate at Cardinal Stritch University and has a master’s degree in educational leadership.

The district said they had 85 applicants for the job. School Board member Joseph Como said Leach was a great find for the position.

Assistant Principal for South High School

The board approved Lisa Stardy, currently a substitute administrator with Milwaukee Public Schools and previously in administration discipline and the social studies department chair for MPS, as assistant principal at South High School. Stardy has a master’s degree in education. The district had 144 applicants for the position. Stary will replace Timothy Joynt as assistant principal due to Joynt’s promotion to South principal.

Assistant Principal for North High School

Rebecca Newcomer was approved as assistant principal at North High School. Newcomer is currently a secondary coordinator (a teacher leadership position) in the district and has been with the district for 15 years. She has a master’s degree in education. Newcomer replaces Kirk Woosencraft, who transferred to Horning Middle School as assistant principal.

Assistant Principal and Athletic Director for West High School

Kyle LeMieux, a teacher since 2007 and currently a physical education teacher at North High School, was approved as assistant principal and athletic director at West High School. LeMieux has a master’s of science in educational leadership and policy analysis.

Other positions

In addition to the administrative positions filled, the school board approved 30 new contracts or contract modifications and five resignations of teachers and specialists.

Did anyone really check DPI to see if these new assistant principals were certified?
